My Grandma's Beef Stroganoff

*This is my family's FAVORITE meal

Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 lbs boneless sirloin steak, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cans beef consomme (found in the canned soup area of grocery store)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 1 can mushrooms, drained
  • Sour cream to taste
  • Egg noodles


Directions

  1. Mix meat with flour, paprika, salt and pepper in bowl. Let stand for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In electric skillet (or skillet on the stove over medium-high heat), heat olive oil. Add onions and meat and brown meat on all sides. 
  3. Add 2 cans of beef consomme, bay leaf, oregano and thyme. 
  4. Simmer on low heat for 40-45 minutes, until meat is tender.
  5. Add mushrooms and sour cream to taste.
  6. Serve over egg noodles.
