Throughout our lifetime there will always be things that we are waiting on the Lord for. Whether it's a job after we graduate, the salvation of a friend or family member or a part of our character that needs to be refined. All of these things require time!
At times I can be too eager for things to happen all at once. But I have found that in my waiting (for many things at this point in my life), the Lord has been asking me to simply increase my trust in Him rather than taking it upon myself to make these things happen.
I won't get my dream job right out of college - but I can trust that the Lord will surely provide something. I can't force people to come to know the Lord, but through constant prayer and petition the Lord can soften hearts and provide opportunities for me to be used in their salvation. And I'm never going to be perfect, but by having a soft heart to correction and a humble heart, I might become more like Christ each day.
I really like the song, "While I'm Waiting" by John Waller because it is a good reminder of what our attitude should be while we are waiting on the Lord.
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
This song is in Fireproof! I really like it:)
