...And in Him you have been made complete... Colossians 2:10

Sorry it's been forever since the last post!!

Today's daylights once again was exactly what I needed to hear. So often I get frustrated with my flaws and failures because I forget what lies ahead of me..... PERFECTION! ....

That Elusive 'Carrot' - Wednesday March 18, 2009

Perfection. It's the dream that mankind has been chasing since we lost it in the garden...the unattainable "carrot on a stick." A perfect "10" may be achieved by a few elite Olympic athletes, but, eventually, even their disciplined bodies fail. All of us fall short in every way: morally, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. We fall short in our work, our marriages, our parenting, and our stewardship of just about everything. (Are you encouraged yet?) Satisfaction eludes us, whether we're rich or poor, married or single, healthy or sick...and God intended that. There is only one way God has designed for us to find completion, wholeness, and perfection-that is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our eyes were made to gaze upon perfection, with the hope that we might conform to perfection. In Acts 2:25, David is quoted as saying, "I was always beholding the Lord in my presence..." The question is: "Are we?" Or like Martha, are we worried and distracted by so many things?

A word "disciple" means "learner." But disciples were not only pupils, they were adherents. They sought to imitate their teacher. This is no hobby or pastime. This is serious business. As C.S. Lewis wrote, "That is why [Jesus] warned people to 'count the cost' before becoming Christians. 'Make no mistake,' He says, 'if you let Me, I will make you perfect. The moment you put yourself in My hands, that is what you are in for. Nothing less, or other than that.'" If you are a Christ-follower, then you are destined for perfection. Nothing less, or other than that. And that is encouraging.
