Happy Mother's Day to Me!

This past weekend, Chris and I were able to travel to Nebraska to spend time with my mom, dad, sister and grandmother (and the puppies). It was a great weekend filled with talking, food and plenty of relaxation. I absolutely LOVE going to my parent's house!

For those of you who may not know, my dad is a physician. There are many perks that come with having a dad with this type of job. Growing up we never went to the doctor, we just asked dad what was wrong and he would fix our problems. Even though I am 24 years old and should have my own doctor here in Des Moines, I still call my dad each time I'm not feeling well. My dad is so great - always taking care of his girls!

Well, Chris and I got to use another perk this weekend... We were able to find out the gender of our little one early! On Monday morning, my dad called the house and asked Chris and I to get ready to go to the hospital for an ultrasound. I was so nervous and excited! We were extremely blessed to be able to have my dad, mom and sister all in the room when we found out that we will be having a little GIRL this fall!!!! It was great to be able to share that experience with most of my family!

Chris and I could not be more excited about having a girl! We really had no clue to what we were having, but we enjoyed laughing at those of you who were "convinced" of the gender one way or another. However, the poll results did turn out to be true - so good job to those of you who voted for a girl!

Here is a picture of our precious little girl!
"Mommy, enough with all the pictures!"
I will be 20 weeks on Friday and have been showing for about a week now. Sometime between last Sunday and Tuesday, my belly just seemed to pop out there for the world to see! It was very strange how quickly it happened, but I am thankful that people will be able to actually tell that I'm pregnant now. I also like looking pregnant instead of just chunky!

I can already tell that it is going to be a very hot summer here in Des Moines, it's supposed to get to 94 today! If any moms have any tips on staying cool for the summer, feel free to send them my way!!!
